Holistic Bible Translation

Why Holistic Bible Translation?

Over 1.5 billion people don’t have access to God’s Word in their own language.

Even communities who do have access may have a Bible that they don’t trust or find difficult to understand.

Word Collective’s Holistic Bible Translation:

Since 2023 the FIA resources have supported the global Church as it translates God’s Word. FIA equips all people to deeply understand the Bible so they can translate it for themselves and access God’s Word in their own language.

In 2025 FIA joined Word Collective. Here’s how FIA supports our work:

1

FIA materials give everyone access to information about the Bible. We’ve built our resources so they can be easily accessed by oral, visual, and text-based communicators; people with all levels of literacy; and people with a variety of cultural contexts.

2

Our Holistic Bible Translation projects work directly with communities of believers. These projects combine FIA, community equipping training, and trauma-healing tools to help communities not only translate God’s Word but also lower other barriers for people to understand and accept God’s Word.

FIA’s Impact

  • 720+ translation teams use FIA to translate the Bible

  • 9+ Bible translation organizations use FIA as a resource

  • 4 translation technologies integrate FIA into their software

More about FIA, our Bible translation resources:

FIA gives everyone access to information about the Bible. We built our resources for oral, visual, and text-based communicators, people with all levels of literacy, and a variety of cultural contexts.

Our FIA resources include:

  • FIA provides context for every passage in the Bible through six steps, available in both text and audio formats.

  • Relevant FIA media accompanies each passage in the Bible. Our media includes maps, photos, and illustrations. This media helps people visualize key objects, geography, and places in the Bible.

  • The FIA Glossary explains key biblical terms, phrases, and concepts through descriptions, activities, and media available in both text and audio formats.

  • FIA Book Introductions give the overarching context of each book in the Bible. Each Introduction provides the historical, cultural, literary, linguistic, canonical, and geographical context of an entire book.

  • Our Video Bible Dictionary gives translators a frame of reference for objects, places, and geography through short videos.

  • We are working with partners to translate FIA into 17 languages of wider communication.
