God’s Healing Power

In 2025 a team of trainers from one of Word Collective’s partners traveled to a remote village in Northern Africa to train an adaptation of our trauma healing program, Multiplying Hope. The Northern African country is a dangerous place to live, and many of the churches in that country experience persecution — especially when they try to share their faith with their non-believing neighbors. Because of the violence and persecution its people experience, the church invited our partners to share trauma healing with its people.

As the training ended, everyone gathered together for the last time and the trainers shared their final story — the story of Pentecost. Like they always did, the villagers learned the story, discussed it together, and acted it out. But this time, as they acted it out, they began to feel like those first followers of Jesus—full of God’s healing power.

That evening, instead of planning who they would share the story with, the community left their trainers behind and, like those first followers, immediately went to their neighbors to share the Good News about Jesus. By the end of the night, that one small group had shared with over 27 people.

Today Word Collective continues to support groups of believers in the region — and the fire from that trauma healing training has continued to spread. Several communities have even begun to use trauma healing as a starting point to disciple their congregations and translate the Bible.

One community in particular used the Multiplying Hope training to create three storytelling seminars focused on different trauma healing topics. The first seminar had 61 participants, but by the time they held the third, the group of participants had grown to 132 — and half were non-believers. This community told us that Multiplying Hope has not only transformed them, but allowed them to share God’s hope and God’s Word with their neighbors.
