Storying Training for Trainers (S-T4T)

When: 2010-now

Where: Global

Who: Everyone

The problem:

Two-thirds of the world prefer to communicate through stories and build trust through in-person relationships.

The majority of communities who have not heard or accepted God’s Word cannot read or write.

What we’re doing:

In 2010 one of our founders, Stephen Stringer, developed S-T4T to train people to use accurate, contextualized Bible stories for evangelism, church planting, and discipleship.

Now, the Word Collective Training Team uses the Storying Training for Trainers resources and paradigm as a foundation for training that equips churches all over the world to strengthen their own understanding of God’s Word and take it to their neighbors.

What that looks like:

Our available S-T4T resources include:

  • Core S-T4T manual that includes basic stories and trainer’s notes

  • Manual for ESL teachers to use Bible stories in their teaching

  • Audio files of key Bible stories

  • Stories crafted for women including trainer’s notes

  • Manual on church formation with stories from the Book of Acts and trainer’s notes

  • Set of stories crafted for South Asian women

  • Set of stories created for children

  • Portions of material translated into Assamese, Chinese, English, French, Nepali, and Punjabi

Anyone trained in S-T4T automatically becomes a trainer themselves, and can train others in the S-T4T paradigm and resources. You can access our S-T4T resources on our S-T4T website.

How it’s going:

Storying T4T offers an innovative, effective way to witness and to tell the stories of the Bible. This strategy gives an opportunity for two-thirds of the world’s population who are functionally non-literate. It’s time to return to the method Jesus used to communicate the Truth.
— Avery Willis, Executive Director of International Orality Network
S-T4T dramatically accelerates our training of indigenous teams and gives us a model that takes the mystery out of our storying methodology. We are deeply indebted to S-T4T for helping us provide oral Bibles to every people group awaiting Scripture.
— Ron Green, Director of Oral Strategies for Campus Crusade for Christ International
